84 Writing Contests to Enter Now
Each month we let you know about approaching writing contest deadlines. Our Grants & Awards database lists 84 writing contests with deadlines between now and December 15, including:
Narrative Fall Story Contest:A prize of $2,500 and publication in Narrativeis given annually for a short story, a short-short story, an essay, or an excerpt from a longer work of prose. The deadline is November 30.
Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize:A prize of €1,000 (approximately $1,200), publication in Southword, and a weeklong residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Ireland, is given annually for a poem. Deadline is November 30.
Wallace Stegner Fellowships:Ten two-year fellowships, five in poetry and five in fiction, are given annually to allow emerging writers to develop their craft in workshops with senior faculty members at Stanford University. Each fellowship includes a $26,000 annual stipend, a tuition waiver, and health insurance. Deadline is December 1.
W. Y. Boyd Literary Award: A prize of $5,000 is given annually for a novel published in the previous year that is set in a period when the United States was at war. The deadline is December 1.
